NEW BLOG: FITNESS OVER WEIGHTLOSS

I haven't written a blog in a few years so I thought I would start a new one. My life has changed a good bit since my old blog. Back then my blog and life was all about losing weight, which I did, I went from close to 2, 50 lbs down to under 150 lbs. But life likes to throw curve balls and I gained most of the weight back1 and hit a new high of 200 lbs a couple of years ago.

I had no one to blame but myself for the weight gain, to be honest I just got sick and tired of constantly counting my calories and stopped. Not watching my diet in turn put the weight back on. The saying is true, you cannot out work a diet since I was still hitting the gym on a regular basis.

So I basically had to start all over. In the fall of 2013 I was introduced to CrossFit and fell in love with it. I was active in CrossFit from then until November of 2015 when I moved to Hawaii. I became stronger but my weight really didn't move, I bounced between 200 and 190. Again I was trying to out work a bad diet. During the years of 2014 and 2015 I was going through a pretty rough personal life and was drinking and eating way too much. No wonder I wasn't dropping the weight like I should have, huh?

So after moving to Hawaii in November of 2015 I ended up leaving the CrossFit community since it was out of my price range here. I'm grateful for all that I learned during my time with that sector of fitness since it gave me a great foundation to continue with my fitness in the globo gym on the base. I arrived here weighing at 193 lbs and now as of today, May 2nd, I weigh 174 lbs. Not a huge amount of weight but that's not all to go by, I have lost several inches off my waist and hips (unfortunately not my thighs, thanks squats lol).

As far as my fitness goes since I've been here I had a decline in my maxes on my lifts. But with a daily dedication I have slowly built my bases back up, not all are where there used to be but not too far now. One area that I lack the most is my upper body and I have to really concentrate to make sure that I get the work in on that as well.

So that brings everything up to date.

Body Composition and Weight

This blog post will mostly center on my weight loss of my fitness journey. For the last several months I have been fighting to get out of the 170s. I keep bouncing between the same couple pounds over and over. And let me tell you: it fucking sucks! I truly try not to put a lot of emphasis on what the scale says but coming from someone who has been overweight/obese most of her life it really is a hard trait to break.  One thing that I have learn to help take my mind off what the number on the scale says is by taking photos through out my progress. I did this back when I had dropped from 242 lbs to 148ish lbs. It really helps keep your head in the game. So recently I took some random photos of me and realized that I had take some of me in the same clothing a couple months back. I decided to do a side by side comparison of the two photos.  Here they are:  The ones on the right are from mid March and the right just this past Friday. Here's the thing with these t

UPS AND DOWNS

This past week I have had some ups and downs with my workouts but lucky enough the ups have been more than the downs. I have also finally broke past 174# to get down to 173#. I would love to be down to 150# by my birthday in mid July but that would be pushing myself to drop 23# in 2.5 months and I just don't think I want to put that much stress on myself as stress has a way of coming back and biting me in the ass to the point of either no weight loss or even weight gain 😕. To jump back to my workouts I usually try to stick to doing a leg workout every other day with the other days consisting of a run or a run and upper body depending on how my shoulders feel as I have a slight issue with my left shoulder with working in a rest day in or an active rest day. This week I have re-started a 12 week squat training plan. As of right now I sit at a 180# back squat and a 150# front squat. My goal is to hit a 200# back squat and at least body weight front squat. The training plan I&
